Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday convened a high-level meeting to take stock of the situation after the previous day's attack by Maoist forces on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans, leaving 14 personnel dead.
The meeting, which was also attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh and Governor Balram Das Tandon, reviewed the situation in the state and those present discussed future strategies to deal with the Maoist problem.
Monday's attack, which took place in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, saw the insurgent forces using local villagers as a human shield. The Maoists also reportedly looted weapons of security personnel including AK-47 and Self Loading Rifles.
The left wing extremists ambushed the team when the security personnel were returning to their camp after combing and area domination operation in the region.
