Two homeless men have revealed that they encountered Australian golfer Robert Allenby on the night he was injured in Hawaii and have claimed that he scraped his face when he passed out and fell on a rock, in contrast to the golfer's claims that he was beaten during a violent abduction.

The Honolulu Police Department is gathering security footage and examining recent charges made to Allenby's credit card in a bid to determine just what happened to the veteran golfer, who claims that he was abducted, beaten and robbed after visiting a wine bar last Friday.

However, the circumstances of what had exactly happened on the night in question still remain foggy, nearly a week after Allenby was found bloodied and bruised in Waikiki, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Allenby has claimed that he was harassed by two homeless men, who tried to rob him, after he was dumped from the boot of a car on to the street. He insists that a homeless woman came to his aid.

However, two homeless men, Chris Khamis and Toa Kaili, came forward to reveal that they were the pair who encountered Allenby near the corner of Kapiolani Boulevard and Pii-koi Street in Waikiki. But their story is different from that of Allenby's.

Khamis claimed that Allenby passed out and hit his head, adding that he was there. He insisted that nobody pushed the golfer out of a car. He said that he had turned around for just a second and nobody was around them.

Meanwhile, Kaili said that he did not know who Allenby was, and initially thought he might have been homeless. He added that he told the golfer to check if he had everything on him and then that was when Allenby noticed that he had not got his wallet and phone.

Kaili said he, Khamis and Allenby spent a few minutes searching for the missing wallet and phone, before the golfer became hostile and accused them of stealing his belongings.

Kaili said that Allenby became frustrated and he walked away, but Khamis stayed and added that when he returned 10 minutes later, the golfer's face was bloodied.

The Honolulu Police Department released a statement saying that detectives were reviewing witness statements and gathering security video footage. It added that they are also looking into recent charges made on Allenby's credit card, and no arrest has been made.

It has been reportedly revealed that Allenby's credit card was used to buy 20,000 American dollars worth of goods from shops in Waikiki, and that the offender's image was captured on CCTV camera.
