Homeowners across the national capital region (NCR) on Sunday appealed to the government to plug the existing loopholes in the upcoming real estate bill, calling for firm and effective steps to be taken to eradicate the exploitation of the common man by builders and developers.
The appeal came during a protest at the Jantar Mantar by the NCR Home Buyers Group, a federation of formal and informal associations of home buyers across the region. Aggravated homeowners held banners with the legend '#GIVEUSOURHOMES', demanding that the bill acts as a deterrent to defaulting builders and developers, who are unable to deliver targets at within the proposed time period and to make them more accountable and curb illegal practices.
This was the second protest by the group, after it organised a peace march from GIPL Noida to Noida Film City on November 1.
