Former Indian cricketer Kirti Azad on Sunday congratulated Shashank Manohar on being elected as the new BCCI president, saying that he has a big task ahead of him of cleaning the board with all the corruption that is taking place in cricket.
"I congratulate Shashank Manohar on becoming the president of the BCCI. He is a very honest man and personally, I am a big fan of his," Azad told ANI.
"He has got a big task in front of him. He has to first clean his own organ's table and only then he can clean all the corruption in cricket that is taking place. He has to take a very strong stand and has to deal with an iron fist," he added.
Earlier, Manohar was officially appointed unopposed as the new president of BCCI after getting the nod from all the six state associations from the East Zone.
The post had been left vacant after the death of Jagmohan Dalmiya following a heart attack last month.
Manohar had earlier served as the BCCI president from 2008 to 2011 before N. Srinivasan succeeded him.
