Hong Kong leader has reportedly declared that the pro-democracy protests that have paralyzed major parts of the city for almost three weeks cannot continue any longer.

While reiterating his offer to resume talks with the protesting student leaders, Chief Executive CY Leung said at a press conference that the government does not want to see any demonstrator occupying the roads for a long time and creating conflict with the "disgruntled" public. He also added that the government cannot allow the situation to continue to have an adverse impact on Hong Kong society, reported the BBC.

Demonstrators are protesting against Beijing's decision to vet candidates in the 2017 Hong Kong elections. They have blocked parts of the city and have been demanding a fully free election.
