China's Premier Li Keqiang has reportedly said that he is sure that "social stability" can be maintained in Hong Kong, as pro-democracy protests in the city entered a third week.

Li made the above statement during his trip to Germany where he signed trade agreements with Chancellor Angela Merkel, reported the BBC.

Pro-democracy protesters have paralyzed parts of Hong Kong as they demand a fully free election.

They are protesting against Beijing's decision to vet candidates in the 2017 Hong Kong elections.
