Indian cricketer Suresh Raina on Saturday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for nominating him for the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', and said that he would carry forward the task after the ODI series.
"Honoured to be nominated by @PMOIndia for #SwachhtaAbhiyaan. Will take up the endeavour as soon as I'm in UP after ODI series," Raina tweeted.
"Cleanliness is a reflection of our Civilization. It has started as a dream but we should all make it our own mission," he added.
Prime Minister Modi earlier in the day initiated the drive towards a clean Ganga, as he participated in 'shramdaan' to remove dirt on the banks of the River Ganga at Assi Ghat in Varanasi.
Prime Minister Modi, who later nominated nine eminent persons to carry forward the task, said social organizations in Varanasi have assured him that the work of cleaning the Ghats in the city shall be completed in one month.
Besides Raina, the Prime Minister has nominated Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, cricketer Mohammad Kaif, comedian Raju Srivastava, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, singer Kailash Kher, Manu Sharma, Padma Shri Devi Parsad Dwivedi and Swami Rambhadracharya.
