Senior Congress leader Rashid Alvi said here today that he was hopeful that India's relations with Nepal will improve after Prime Minister Modi's visit to the neighbouring country.
Alvi told ANI, "China is very active in Nepal. It wants to influence Nepal. I'm sure that Nepal's political stability will be discussed and it would benefit us as Nepal is strategically a very important nation."
Meanwhile, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath said that the Prime Minister's visit to Nepal will mark the beginning of great relations with neighbouring countries.
Adityanath told ANI, "This is a new beginning to make great relations with the neighbouring countries. PM Modi has started this campaign to see a happy and prosperous neighbourhood. He started his visit to Bhutan and now he is visiting Nepal. Nepal and India are like two bodies with the same soul. Both countries have the same culture and traditions."
"In the last ten years, the relations between Nepal and India had soured a little. We believe that Nepal is also excited after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister," he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Sunday for his maiden bilateral visit to fellow SAARC nation Nepal, where he was given a guard of honour.
