How genetic factors influence BMI in kids

A new study has revealed that genetic factors have an influence on children's Body Mass Index.

According to the study by UCL and King's College London, of genetic factors on differences between children's Body Mass Index (BMI) increases from 43 percent at age 4 to 82 percent at age 10.

Clare Llewellyn, UCL Epidemiology and Public Health, said that the results demonstrate that genetic predisposition to obesity is increasingly expressed throughout childhood.

The study was published in the journal Obesity.
