Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced ex-gratia for the next of kin of those killed and seriously injured in the bus accident in Himachal Pradesh.
Prime Minister Modi announced ex-gratia of Rs. two lakh for the families of those killed and Rs. 50,000 for those seriously injured.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister T.S. Rawat announced Rs. 1 lakh ex-gratia for the families of those killed, and Rs 50,000 for those seriously injured.
The death toll climbed to 45 after a bus fell into the Tons River in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district.
The bus was on its way from Vikasnagar to Tiuni in Uttarakahand. It took a 121-kilometer route that passes on the Himachal Pradesh border.
A medical team and personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Dehradun were rushed to the spot.

There were more than 50 passengers in the bus.
The Tons is the largest tributary of the Yamuna and touches Himachal Pradesh while flowing through the Garhwal region in Uttarakhand.
