Hundreds of people recently took part in the three-day Mechuka Adventure Festival, organised to promote adventure tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.

The festival was jointly organised by Indian Tourism Ministry, the state tourism department and the Centre for Cultural Research and Documentation (CCRD), to promote Mechukha as a preferred adventure tourism destination.

The festival was also attended by Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju.

"Whatever festivals are celebrated in places across Arunachal Pradesh, they are based on religion, culture, music and adventure. We have Ziro festival, Bomdila festival, Tawang festival. All the communities and tribes have their own festival. They need to be promoted. These festivals are our strength," said Rijiju.

Besides promoting adventure sports like rock climbing, rappelling, angling for snow trout, paramotor, horse riding and bullet-riders, local food competition, fashion show, singing and dancing competition and musical nights were held during the festival.

Tourism and hydro resources are the key sectors that generate revenue for Arunachal Pradesh.

Mechukha is unique for its tourism potential and draws global tourists for adventurous sports.
