Despite speaking about wanting to shoot African animals two years ago during a safari, former Australia Test cricketer Glenn McGrath gas claimed that he deeply regrets doing so.
McGrath is facing a wave of angry criticism after pictures showing him with dead African wildlife began circulating online. The former Test bowler's photographs can be found by searching for Chipitani Safaris, a game park in South Africa, but they reportedly appear to have been removed from the website.
McGrath, who is known to enjoy hunting, is seen crouched beside what looks like a dead buffalo, two hyenas and posing with the tusks of an elephant, Sydney morning Herald reported.
The bowler has been on the receiving end of a backlash from Twitter users for the picture, which has been labelled as 'disgusting'.
Since his retirement McGrath works part-time as a cricket commentator and runs the McGrath Foundation, a breast cancer support organisation named after his late wife Jane, who died from the disease.
In his note on social media, McGrath refers to going through an extremely difficult time in his life when the photos were taken, the report added.
