The husband of a Pakistani woman, who was stoned to death by her family outside the Lahore High Court for marrying against their wishes, had murdered his first wife.
Farzana Parveen was murdered on Tuesday outside the LHC by more than two-dozen attackers, including her brother and father.
According to Dawn News, the brazen, brutal nature of the killing has triggered outrage around the world.
In a twist to a story that has shocked rights activists, Parveen's husband Mohammad Iqbal, 45, has admitted killing his first wife.
Iqbal said that he was in love with Farzana and strangled his first wife because of this love.
Iqbal added he was spared a prison term because his son, who alerted police to the murder, later forgave him under Pakistan's controversial blood-money laws.
