Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi on Saturday reiterated that she was not joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that she is strongly public, but not political.

"There are always speculations, I am very strongly public, but I am not political. There is a difference between being public and political. I deny reports of joining the BJP. When did I say I would become a member of any political party? I have never said that I am joining BJP," said Bedi.

"I am in total social service in public and academic life and I will continue to serve in a manner I know how to serve. I am excellent in policing I know it. I know where I am very comfortable in; this is something which I know," she added.

Bedi, who has been lauding the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past couple of months, had earlier this year hinted that she may join the BJP.

There were even reports suggesting that the former top cop, who was part of veteran social activist Anna Hazare's core team during his agitation for a strong Lokpal Bill, may be the BJP's chief ministerial candidate in Delhi.

With the Union Cabinet recommending the dissolution of the Delhi Assembly and setting the stage for fresh elections in the days to come, political parties have begun finalizing their poll campaign strategy to grab power here.

President's rule was imposed in Delhi since February after Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister after remaining in power for 49 days.
