Reacting to a report of a Marathi newspaper according to which, there was a meeting between Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar with Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial (BJP) candidate Narendra Modi, NCP leader D.P Singh on Friday said that Pawar was in Pune on 17th January and that he did not want to comment on baseless rumors.

"I do not want to give any explanations about baseless rumors. So, I would rather not comment on it. Sharad Pawar was in Pune on 17th January, and therefore, there is no possible way that any such meeting would have taken place," said Singh.

A Marathi newspaper, Loksatta, had published a report on Friday that Pawar had met Modi in New Delhi on January 17.

Pawar denied any such meeting with Modi, saying on Twitter, "News of my meeting with Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Jan 17 appeared in a news paper is completely mischchievous, baseless and false.
