Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, who scored a splendid ton in the ongoing Test against Sri Lanka, said that he has been performing well since the Australia tour and wants to retain that consistency in the coming matches as well.
"I didn't change major things. It's a little tweak and when you change little things, the impact is big. That's what I believe. After that Australia series, even in World Cup I played really good and from then I have been doing consistently well in international cricket," he told the media.
Dhawan (134) and skipper Virat Kohli (103) shared a 227 run-stand to propel India to a respectable first innings lead.
"Virat played very well and our partnership made a huge difference to the total," he insisted.
The left-handed batsman, who was dropped twice and also hit on the back of the helmet during his heroic innings, said that he wanted to stay as long as possible and score as many runs for his side.
"I felt very happy that they dropped my catch. As a batsman, I just wanted to stay as long as possible. So, when somebody drops your catch, you get more alert again and want to start in a fresh way and that's what I did," he said.
With a 192-run first innings lead, the Virat Kohli-led side is standing in a commanding position after having the hosts at 5-2 in their second innings of the first Test at Galle here.
