Singer-actress Rebecca Ferguson has claimed to have been a victim of racism while working in the entertainment industry.
The 31-year-old released her "Statement of truth.." on Twitter on Thursday in which she made shocking allegations towards members of showbiz.
Ferguson shared that she was once told she was only hired to perform as she is an ethic minority.
"The oppression had reached its absolute worst when I was called and told I had to do something that compromised my integrity. I was requested to do a gig and told 'they want you because you're a black face. You need to do it. Nobody gives a s**t about you what else are you going to do? Black people are only good for entertaining and running, and not for sitting as CEOs of companies'," Ferguson wrote.
Though she felt too intimidated and in fear of the welfare of her children to speak out before, Ferguson said that she "will not be silenced" any longer on the issue.
While she didn't mention any names, Ferguson said she was once "forced to sign a contract" and when she tried to say no says she was told, "If you do not sign it you will not have a career...
