England batsman Ian Bell has said that his latest century in the second innings of the fourth Ashes Test at Durham was the best batting of his career and although it was nice to contribute, the most important thing is to win the Ashes.

According to the Mirror, Bell's 105 not out as part of England's 234-5 has given them a lead of 202 with power to add and he joined the ranks of eight other English Ashes heroes who have scored three or more tons in a series, but he is just the third player after Maurice Leyland in 1934 and David Gower in 1985 to have done it in England.

Bell said that he had played well in the series and needed to carry on with his form in the next day so that England gets as many runs as possible to give the bowlers an opportunity to take 10 wickets.

The player said it was good to 'put to bed' some of the things of the past and was enjoyable to score hundreds.
