Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Sunday stated the response of the states at the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog meet, which was held in New Delhi, was for the identification of best practices which can be initiated across the nation.
"Different states kept different proposals in front of the Niti Aayog but every state agreed to demand for a democratic platform so that the body can work. We also asked for a strong inter-state council which can address regional issues between two or more states," Singh told the media here.
"We also discussed how the best practices of every state can be identified and initiated in other states, as well as making sure that failed projects are not repeated elsewhere," he added.
Talking specifically of Chhattisgarh, Singh requested for the allotment for untied funds to be used as per required by the state government.
"Chhattisgarh is a new state with enormous potential and the experts are needed for the creation of its structural programmes in a think-tank association. We also need untied funds from the Centre to be used as per the requirements of the state," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who chaired the first meeting of the NITI Aayog earlier in the day, said that the spirit of cooperative federalism will enhance India's progress and prosperity.
The formation of the NITI Aayog was announced on August 15 last year by Prime Minister Modi during his maiden Independence Day address from the Red Fort.
