Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad's Director Ashish Nanda on Thursday resigned citing personal reasons.
Nanda, a former professor at Harvard Law School, was the first professor from a foreign school to head an IIM.
His resignation has come as a surprise as he is leaving the institute one year before his tenure expires.
He was appointed for a period of five years, and when he relinquishes office - September 1, 2017, he will be completing four years.
