Imran Khan's PTI call off talks, accuses US of meddling with Pak

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party has called off talks with the government, citing that the Pakistani government was restricting the movement of its protestors in Islamabad's Red Zone, the area around the parliament house.

This comes after news agencies reported that members of PTI met negotiators loyal to the federal government on Wednesday to discuss the former's demands.

Meanwhile, PTI Chief Imran Khan called for a nation-wide protest, calling for the people to expand the civil disobedience movement into all provinces of the country. He also urged protestors to be not afraid of the police, who have surrounded the protesors, daring the police to shoot him.

Khan also has accused the United States of meddling in the internal politics of Pakistan, urging them to withdraw their statement after the US lent support to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's government by saying that the "elected government is in place", reports state.

The Dawn reports that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahrul Qadri has meanwhile vowed to "take revenge" on Sharif for the death of his party workers, saying that the courts shall punish him appropriately.

The PTI and PAT demand the resignation of Sharif, holding him responsible for the death of 14 people in Lahore and have accused him of poll-rigging.
