The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a resolution against drone attacks in the National Assembly.
Submitting the resolution, PTI termed the strikes as a blatant violation of the Pakistan's sovereignty and urged the government to respond militarily against such strikes.
According to the Daily Times, the copy of resolution indicated that drone attacks conducted earlier by the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and now by the Pentagon through direct missiles on Pakistan are a violation of the country's sovereignty.
The resolution said that US drone attacks violate the Geneva Conventions (1949). It also noted that drones do not even provide the suspects a chance to surrender, and any person having characteristics of a militant are targeted by signature strikes, without confirming the identity of the suspect.
It added that drone strikes violate the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
The resolution called upon the Pakistan Government to immediately take steps to stop drone attacks, including asking the US to end their drone strikes in Pakistan, the report added.
