Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said that the recent attack by Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) on the army officials could prove as a huge setback to the peace talks.

Khan said that everyone wants peace but TTP showed extremism by carrying out the attack adding that for nine years the government has tried the strategy of negotiations and peace talks but that has only increased extremism.

According to the Express Tribune, Khan condemned the attack and said that the situation in which the state is now, has no easy solution.

The roadside bomb attacks and a Taliban ambush last week killed seven soldiers including two senior army officers in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa region near the Afghan border.

The report said that the All Parties Conference (APC) held last week saw major political parties in favour of a dialogue to counter the increasing terrorism in the country and the TTP has demanded that their prisoners be released and army be withdrawn from tribal areas before talks can be initiated, the report added.
