President Pranab Mukherjee, currently on his four-day official tour to Russia, on Saturday paid tributes to writer, painter and poet Rabindranath Tagore at the latter's statue at Friendship Park in Moscow.
The official twitter account of the Rashtrapati Bhavan shared the information.
"#PresidentMukherjee placed flowers at the feet of a statue of Tagore in Friendship Park, Moscow today evening," it tweeted.
"Russians, Indian communityand Bangladesh Ambassador joined #PresidentMukherjee in paying homage to Tagore in Moscow," it added, also posting pictures of the occasion.
May 7 was the 154th birth anniversary of Tagore. Paying homage to him earlier this week, President Mukherjee had referred to Tagore as 'one of the greatest intellectual icons of India'.
