Nineteen students from National Institute of Technologies (NIT) have been selected to stay at Rashtrapati Bhavan for a period of seven days as part of an 'In Residence' programme.
The batch of students, which includes three PhDs, will stay at Rashtrapati Bhavan from May 16 to May 22. They are the second batch of NIT scholars to attend such a programme at the President's house.
First batch of seventeen NIT scholars took part in a similar 'In Residence' programme from April 11 to April 17.
The In-Residence programme for NITs was announced by the President of India at the annual Conference of Directors of NITs held in October 2014.
Similar programmes already exist for writers, artists and grass root innovators. The same will be extended to the teachers from Central Universities in June 2015.
The NIT scholars will interact with Ministers and officials of various ministries and visit local industries, Income Tax Central Processing Centre, Financial Intelligence Unit as well as have an interactive workshop at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on a chosen theme.
