Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina on the sidelines of the 18 th SAARC Summit here, and reportedly discussed ways to enhance co-operation between South Asian democracies.
"India-Bangladesh Prime Ministers see greater prospects of cooperation amongst democracies of South Asia," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson, Syed Akbaruddin tweeted.
Addressing the SAARC Summit earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi said there is a need to improve connectivity between the people of the SAARC region.
He also offered several new initiatives for the promotion of regional cooperation, including in the field of health, education, sharing satellite to benefit in areas of education, tele-medicines, disaster response, resource management, weather forecasting and communication.
Besides, he announced longer business visas for citizens of the member nations of SAARC.
