Ahead of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's visit to Bangladesh, Congress leader Anand Sharma said here today that India and Bangladesh need to solve the problem of terrorism and illegal immigration together.
Swaraj is scheduled to leave for Dhaka within few hours to pay a goodwill visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of its Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.
"We wish as a country that this visit is productive and result oriented," added Sharma.
This is her first stand-alone visit abroad as the External Affairs Minister and reflects the importance that India attaches to its bilateral relationship with Bangladesh, a close friend and neighbour.
During the visit, Swaraj will hold discussions on bilateral issues with the Bangladesh Foreign Minister.
She will also call on the President of Bangladesh Advocate Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
