India recorded a convincing 48-run victory against West Indies in the second ODI at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium to level the five-match series 1-1.
West Indies looked in control following the solid platform laid by opener Dwayne Smith who played a key role in a 64-run opening partnership with Darren Bravo, followed by 72 runs for the second wicket with Kieron Pollard.
Smith came agonisingly close to reaching his maiden ODI century before he missed an attempted clip off Mohammed Shami's delivery as the ball hit his pad and ricocheted into the stumps for 97, Sport24 reported.
Smith's dismissal sparked the middle-order West Indies batting collapse as Marlon Samuels got out for 16, Denesh Ramdim fell for just three, Andre Russell for four, Darren Sammy on one and skipper Dwayne Bravo got out on his individual score of 10. Their middle-order batting line-up fell in the space of five overs for the addition of a mere 18 runs.
Shami, who gave match figures of 4 for 36 in 9.3 overs, wrapped things when he caught and bowled Jerome Taylor for a duck in the 47th over for a fitting ending with the visitors on 215.
Earlier, pace bowler Taylor took three wickets as the West Indies restricted India to 263 for seven from 50 overs after skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat.

The right-arm bowler was in the thick of it as early as the second over when he knocked back opener Shikhar Dhawan off-stump with a good length ball that nipped in a bit to find the gap between bat and pad.
After a period of consolidation by the hosts that saw Virat Kohli hit 62 and Suresh Raina, who also scored 62, put on 105 for the fourth wicket, it was Taylor who intervened to break up the partnership as Kieron Pollard caught Raina at deep mid-off.
Ravi Jadeja became Taylor's third victim in 46th over as he went out for his individual score of six and the runs seemed to have dried up for India. But Dhoni had other ideas as he blasted an unbeaten half-century to lift the home side to a competitive total.
Taylor finished with figures of 3 for 54 from his allotted 10 overs.
The third match will take place at the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, the report added.
