India edged out archrivals Pakistan in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday and clinched the title.
Sparking centuries by batsmen Vijay Zol and Sanju Samson led India, who won the toss, to amass a total of 314 for eight in the allotted 50 overs, and the duo added 180 runs for the third wicket to ensure a big score.
According to the Express Tribune, Zol hit seven fours and two sixes in his 100-run knock, while Samson struck eight fours and four sixes in his 87 balls 100 run knock.
Although Pakistani batsmen fought hard with prolific opener and captain Sami Aslam breaking Quinton de Kock's record for the most runs in international U-19 cricket during his 87-run innings and Kamran Ghulam scoring 102 in the lower order, the team ended at 274 for nine, falling 40 runs short of the target, the report added.
