Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Friday strongly condemned the killing of his nation's soldiers allegedly by unfair means along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the method used by the Indian soldiers breached the trust of the Islamic Republic's soldiers.
A statement by the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared the concerns raised by Chaudhry, when in conversation with Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr. T.C.A. Raghavan.
"The Foreign Secretary underlined that the incident was not only in contravention to the rules of engagement, but also amounted to breach of trust of Pakistani soldiers in these mechanisms," the statement read.
Chaudhry further alleged that New Delhi blaming Pakistan for a spate of terror attacks on Indian soil was 'far removed from reality'.
"The Foreign Secretary impressed upon the Indian High Commissioner that it was not in Pakistan's interest to ratchet up tension on the Line of Control (LoC) and [International Border], since [Pakistani] law enforcement agencies and armed forces were fully engaged in combating terrorism and militancy across the country. The Indian insinuations that Pakistan supported infiltration attempts were, therefore, far removed from reality," the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that Chaudhry has informed the representatives of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (P-5) and the European Union (EU) in Pakistan about the incident.
"Keeping in view the seriousness of the incident, the Foreign Secretary also briefed the Heads of the Missions of P-5 countries and the EU in Islamabad and emphasized the importance of maintaining ceasefire on the LoC and [the International Border]. He stressed the urgency of the international community playing its role in counselling India to refrain from actions that threaten peace and stability in the region," the statement said.
Islamabad alleges that last week Pakistani soldiers were invited for a meeting along the International Border with their Indian counterparts under a white flag and they were ambushed while under the protection of the flag.
