India-China bound by history, connected by culture: PM Modi

A day before Chinese President Xi Jinping arrives in India for a three-day state visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a conversation with Chinese journalists based in New Delhi on Tuesday, said that India and China are bound by history, connected by culture, and inspired by rich traditions.

"Together they can create a bright future for the entire mankind," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Summarizing the possibilities of India-China bilateral ties and moving ahead as "Inch (India and China) towards Miles (Millennium of Exceptional Synergy), Prime Minister Modi said, "Every inch we cover can rewrite history of humanity and every mile we cross will go a long way in making this planet a better place."

Hoping that together India and China cover several miles, Modi said that these several miles will take not only the two nations forward but also all of Asia and humankind towards the path of progress and harmony.

Referring to the large population base of India and China, Prime Minister Modi said that when India and China gain, almost 35 percent of the world's population benefits; when India and China strengthen relations, almost 35 percent of the world's people come closer; when economic cooperation between India and China increases, the lives of almost 35 percent of the world's population undergoes qualitative changes.

Elaborating on the nature of the relationship he said, "the arithmetic and chemistry of our relations convince me that together we can script history and create a better tomorrow for all of mankind."

Chinese President Xi Jinping will begin his state visit to India by landing in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

A high power delegation will accompany the Chinese President. According to the MEA, during the Chinese President's visit all substantive issues of China-India bearing will be discussed.

The visit would open many opportunities of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
