The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday downplayed the remark of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi's lawyer that his client won't give voice samples and said the priority should be given to ensure that the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks are brought to book.
BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said that there was need to comment on statements of the lawyers representing international terrorists such as Lakhvi.
"They are bound to speak what is in their interest. We are concerned about structured mechanism. How do we bring 26/11 perpetrators to justice and ensure that they are booked," Kohli told ANI.
In a major setback to India's attempt to expedite the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack trail, Lakhvi's lawyer has reportedly said that he will not give his voice sample.
This comes just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif met on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Ufa, Russia.
