India, France sign MoU to increase bilateral relations in sphere of sports

France and India on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding, seeking to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations in the field of sports.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India and French Ministry of Sports, Youth Affairs, Public Education and Community Life signed an MoU aimed at increasing cooperation and exchange of experiences in the fields of sports medicine, institutional cooperation, development of practice of sports in the context of proximity sports, support of participation of women and the disabled persons in sports, management and coordination of sports federations, training of executives and establishment of National Institute of Sports in India based on French model of National Institute of Sport and Physical Education (INSEP).

Meanwhile, Pre-engineering agreements between the NPCIL and Areva seeking to bring clarity on all technical aspects of the plant so that all parties (AREVA, Alstom and NPCIL) can firm up their price and optimize all provisions for risks still included at this stage in the costs of the project, was also signed.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Hollande released stamps to mark 50 years of Indo-French cooperation. The two leaders also held a meeting wherein they reviewed relations between the two countries and discussed matters pertaining to defence, nuclear, economics, culture, education and people to people ties.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the august gathering at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) headquarters in Paris earlier in the day.

The Prime Minister, who is currently on the first leg on his three-nation nine-day tour, arrived at the UNESCO headquarters at Place de Fontenoy, Paris today.
