Underscoring the likelihood of acceleration of India's growth rate, Minister of External Affairs (MEA) Sushma Swaraj invited the other SCO members to be a part of India's growth story.

"In the background of sluggish economic growth in the world, India's economic growth is expected to accelerate in the long-term and we would like the other SCO members to be part of India's growth story," Swaraj said that at the 16th Meeting of Council of Government of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States in Russia's Sochi city.

Swaraj also highlighted that the challenges before the global economy continue to persist.

"Slowdown in the world economy accompanied with increasing tide of protectionism and policy uncertainties will require measures of matching proportions," she added.

It is the first meeting of the Council after India became a full member of the SCO.

In June, India, along with Pakistan, had become full- fledged member of the SCO.

India's membership was strongly pushed by Russia, while Pakistan's entry into the grouping was backed by China.
