India lauds PM Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme

The people on Sunday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to reach out to millions of Indians through his 'Mann Ki Baat' programme.

Addressing the countrymen over All India Radio for the second time in 'Mann Ki Baat' programme today, Prime Minister Modi touched upon several issues of national importance and assured the citizens that his government is committed to bring back all the black money stashed in foreign banks.

"Even today, in rural areas, the presence of radio is quite visible. Thus, his message is reaching all the regions," said Nishant Bhaiji, a resident of Bhopal.

Manoj Kulkerni, a resident of Nagpur, said it is good to see that Prime Minister Modi is following the same visionary path which he had set up for others.

"While addressing various sections of the society such as the youth and specially-abled children, he raised issues related to them and it was good to see that he is concerned about them," he added.

The Prime Minister on Sunday turned to All India Radio (AIR) for the second time since he came to power in May to reveal his thoughts on issues of national importance.

The Prime Minister said no one could have imagined that the Swachhta Abhiyaan would become such a mass movement. He said good results are already visible. Prime Minister Modi said the children too are now aware about cleanliness.

Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction that people from all walks of life who come to meet him - these include government officers, sports persons, cine-stars, businessmen, scientists etc - talk about taking responsibility for social issues. The Prime Minister said he sees this as a big change.

Prime Minister Modi praised the officers of the Ministry of Human Resource Development for coming up with two innovative schemes for specially-abled children.

The Prime Minister also expressed happiness that sales of Khadi had more than doubled since his last radio address, when he had suggested to people to keep one khadi garment at home.

Prime Minister Modi also invited suggestions from people on how to tackle the menace of drug abuse among the younger generation. He said he would talk about this subject in his next radio address.

Prime Minister Modi stated that an active citizen is the biggest strength of development.
