India offers you 'three Ds': PM Modi tells global investors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday invited global investors to participate in his government's 'Make in India' initiative, adding that the nation will offer potential stakeholders the 'three Ds

"We launched 'Make in India' to encourage growth of manufacturing in country, we are working hard to make India a global manufacturing hub. Wherever I went I found a curiosity, an attraction and feeling of pride towards India. Countries are coming forward to work with us," Prime Minister Modi said while speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit here.

"India offers you three Ds: democracy, demography and demand. This is what you are looking for. You will not find all of them together at any other destination of the world," he added.

Asserting that he was committed to reviving the Indian economy, the Prime Minister pledged to create a fair and transparent policy environment.

"My government is committed for changing and improving the economic and social conditions of India including the quality of life. In a short span of seven months, we have been able to change the atmosphere of despair and uncertainty," he said.

"Since the first day, my government is actively working to revive the economy. My government is committed to create a policy environment that is predictable, transparent and fair. We are not merely making commitments and announcements; we are also backing them up with concrete action at the level of policy and practice," he added.

Prime Minister Modi further invited other states to also start initiatives similar to the Gujarat Summit.

"It is only because of persistence with positivity that this event of Gujarat government has become an event for the entire country. This platform has been enlarged so that other states too can take advantage. Today many other states have adopted this approach. The government of India is committed to support such initiatives by any state government," he said.

Around 50,000 delegates from India and 1,800 others from 105 countries are participating in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit which is being held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

Among the prominent dignitaries attending the event are United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Several ministers from Europe, Japan, Australia and Canada and over 50 CEOs of top Indian as well as international companies are also participating in the summit.
