Ahead of the upcoming International Yoga Day, people across the country, practiced and propagated the ancient discipline in an effort to ensure success on June 21 when millions are expected to perform yoga in more than 100,000 camps across the country.

In Jharkhand, employees and family members of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), a subsidiary of the government undertaking Coal India Limited, are practicing yoga as part of a campaign organised by the company.

Chairman and Managing Director of CCL, Gopal Narain Singh, said that the company began a 'yoga fortnight' drive from June 10 in Gandhi Nagar area of Ranchi city in order to provide stress relief for the employees and to promote yoga among people in the state.

"I am very happy that around 200 people have registered for our yoga classes in Gandhi Nagar area of Ranchi. People are participating in huge numbers. We have begun this campaign in several other areas also. Our efforts are aimed at ensuring maximum participation by the people of Jharkhand in this drive on June 21. This would be beneficial for the ordinary citizens of our country," said Singh.

The company which saw a record growth in production this year hopes to improve the productivity of its employees through yoga, Singh said.

Plans are on to continue yoga classes post June 21, he added.

Meanwhile, in Visakhapatnam, educational institutions and yoga centres have drawn up extensive plans to promote International Yoga Day.
