The PC market in India has bucked the international trend, a new survey by Gartner has revealed.
Gartner found that the combined desktop and mobile PC market in India was 3.2 million units in the last three months, representing an increase of 7.9 percent.
According to News24, this growth is a reversal of international trends that have seen the PC market decline significantly as mobile smart devices increase in sales.
The growth is a reversal of international trends that have seen the PC market decline significantly as mobile smart devices increase in sales.
However, principal research analyst at Gartner, Vishal Tripathi pointed that the increase in growth was not driven by consumers as consumers accounted for 40 percent of total PC sales in the third quarter of 2013 compared to 47 percent in the same quarter last year.
The report said that the biggest winner in the Indian PC market over the period was HP which doubled its market share from 15.5 percent to 32.5 percent.
Gartner data showed that the global PC market declined by 8.4 percent in 2013, while tablets are expected to grow by 53.4 percent, the report added.
