With veteran Pakistani batsman Younis Khan pulling out of his proposed move to Headingley, England's county cricket champions Yorkshire have signed Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara as their overseas player.

The Pakistan international agreed to a return to the White Rose on a short-term deal in February, but he has now said that he would be unable to turn down a possible call to tour Bangladesh with Pakistan.

Yorkshire's director of cricket Martyn Moxon said that they have moved quickly to bring in Pujara, who has scored 8,724 first-class runs at an average of 57.01, and added that the Indian batsman is a superb player, the BBC reported.

Moxon said that Pujara is an outstanding young Test cricketer, who is hungry to perform in the English game, adding that in the brief conversations he has had with the Indian batsman, he is very much looking forward to be joining Yorkshire and being part of their plans.
