India's popular motorcycle major, Bajaj, will manufacture motorcycles at a plant in Bangladesh from June 2015.

According to the Daily Star, the Uttara Group, Bajaj Auto's local assembler, is set to build a Taka 150 crore plant, which will be operated and technically supported by Bajaj.

It is being reported that the motorcycle factory will be built on ten acres of land in the Zirani Bazar area of Gazipur District.

The Daily Star quoted Matiur Rahman, the managing director of the Uttara Group, as saying that the unit price of a Bajaj-branded motorcycle might decline by around 30% once production starts at the plant.

Twenty to twenty-five components of the motorcycle will be manufactured at the Bangladesh plant, while the other components will come from the Bajaj plant in India.

The factory will initially manufacture four models - Platina 100, Discover 100, Discover 125 and Pulsar 150. Its annual production capacity will be 1.5 lakh units, and it will employ around 450 people including two to three foreign employees.
