Following a 3-2 loss to Belgium in an exciting Robobank Hockey World Cup, India is ready to take on fourth ranked England today, even as Indian fans anticipate Captain Sardar Singh to lead his side to victory.
According to Hockey India, speaking about the upcoming clash Chief Coach Terry Walsh said that England is a formidable opponent and India would be strongly challenged in their match against them.
Walsh added that India would have to move the ball effectively and they would attain this by utilizing appropriate dodging techniques, which will help them to create opportunities if they are able to execute in a timely fashion.
Walsh said that understanding the deficiencies in India's last contest and applying suitable adjustments would be a big test, as within the tournament their clash against England has significant importance and the team's mental preparations and resilience would be tested.
Meanwhile skipper Singh said that he was disappointed that India lost the match to Belgium in the last few minutes during their recent clash, but added that they would take the positives from the last match and apply it during their upcoming clash.
Singh said that the Indian hockey squad realises that England is ranked fourth in the FIH ranking but that would not deter India to go for the win as the boys are high on confidence after their performance against Belgium.
