Condemning the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the incidents in Ukraine are saddening and not good for humanity.
Prime Minister Modi also condemned the shooting down of Malaysian Airlines aircraft in Ukraine.
"Whatever happened in Ukraine, people died, it's very saddening and not good for humanity. India's view is that efforts need to be made to sit together, talk and resolve the problems," he said in an exclusive interview to CNN.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian government and pro-Russia rebels reportedly agreed to a peace plan for Eastern Ukraine during ongoing talks at the Belarusian capital of Minsk.
The two sides have drawn up a nine-point deal that includes setting up of a 30 kilometre buffer zone, a ban on flights over parts of eastern Ukraine by military aircraft and the withdrawal of "foreign mercenaries" on both sides, reports stated.
The Ukraine conflict has claimed more than 3,000 lives in the two eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk since April.
The ceasefire agreement that was agreed upon on September 5 is still holding, despite being frequently violated.
