United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, currently on an official visit to India, on Wednesday conducted the India-US Foreign Office Consultation with Foreign Secretary Dr S. Jaishankar in the national capital.
During their meeting, Jaishankar and Sherman discussed the bilateral ties between India and the US, also reviewing the implementation of the Indo-US Summit decisions.
The two leaders also held discussions on regional issues, including relief and rescue operations in Nepal.
Earlier in the day, Sherman had called on External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
On the sidelines of the Foreign Office Consultation, an India-US Dialogue on Africa was held between delegations led by Ministry of External Affairs (South and East Africa) Joint Secretary Vinay Kumar and US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield. A dialogue on West Asia was also held, with Ministry of External Affairs (West Asia and North Africa) Joint Secretary Sandeep Kumar and US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne Patterson representing New Delhi and Washington DC respectively.
