India's openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay gave their team a perfect start on Wednesday to end the first day's play on 239 without loss in the lone test against Bangladesh being played at Fattullah.

Aggressive left hander Dhawan was unbeaten on 150, while Vijay was not out 89.

Winning the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli elected to bat first on a pitch that looked to be a 'belter'.

Both Dhawan and Vijay started off slowly, but once Dhawan got into his stride, he scattered the Bangladesh bowling to all parts of the ground.

Vijay, however, was lucky to get a reprieve on a close lbw appeal when he was on not.

Meanwhile, rain did spoil the run feast, not allowing the full quota of 90 overs to be bowled.

Both the Indian openers paced off the innings pretty well and once they got their eyes in, they scored at a very healthy run-rate.

For Bangladesh, nothing went their way. India scored their 239 runs off 56 overs. India would be eyeing on a huge score when they come out tomorrow.

India has picked five bowlers, including three pacers Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav besides Ravichandran Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh as specialist spinners.

Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh returns the national squad after two years.
