Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday described the North East states as the 'strong arm' of India, adding that until the region gets strengthened, India will never be able to grow.

"The North East is a strong arm of India, and till the time it does not strengthen India will never be able to grow," Singh said at a press conference.

In a series of tweets, the minister shared his thoughts upon his visit of Moreh town in Manipur, where he visited the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Road.

"Visited the border town of Moreh in Manipur today. India-Myanmar share a very cordial and warm relationship," he tweeted.

He also said that the Centre is looking forward to resolve border issues with Myanmar amicably through negotiation. He further added that India-Myanmar border offers unique opportunity to open links and routes for trade and commerce with East Asian countries.

During his visit here, Singh, along with Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh chaired a meeting with the security agencies to discuss about the law and order situation prevailing in the state.

Earlier in the day the Home Minister also inaugurated the Moreh Teak Park.
