Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that India will make sure that issues with China are resolved peacefully during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the country adding that it was important to remember former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that friends could be changed but not neighbours.
"India is one nation that believes that the whole world is family. I will try my best that the tension between China and India is lessened and I am sure that even China wants peace and hence will make efforts to achieve the same. We have not forgotten Atal ji's statement that friends can be changed but not neighbours," said Singh.
Prime Minister Modi will visit China as part of his six-day, three nation tour. During his trip, he will be visiting Beijing, Shanghai and Xi'an, before departing for Mongolia.
During the visit, India would seek greater market access, removal of non-tariff barriers and investments in sectors such as defence.
China has already signed MoUs to set up industrial parks in India.
