India on Wednesday registered their first win in Bangladesh after beating the hosts in the third and final game of the bilateral ODI series by 77 runs.

Batting first, the Men in Blue registered their highest score of the series, posting a daunting 318-run target for the hosts at Dhaka, thanks to contrasting fifties from captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan.

While Dhawan (75) continued his form with the bat, Dhoni and Ambati Rayadu provided an able support by scoring 69 and 44 respectively. Subsequently, Suresh Raina smacked a brisk 38 off 21 balls to help India finally set a formidable target for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Mushrafe Mortaza was the pick of the bowler for the hosts as he claimed three wickets in a slow pitch and was ably supported by Mustafizur.

In reply, Bangladesh got off to a sluggish start, with Dhawal Kulkarni providing India with something that had eluded them throughout the series - an early breakthrough - with Tamim Iqbal dismissed for just five runs. Thereafter, many Bangladesh batsmen got off to good starts but were unable to convert them into a big score, with Soumya Sarkar (40), Litton Das (34) and Sabbir Rahman (43) all falling just when they seemed to be taking the match away from India.

Once Rahman was dismissed with only 197 runs on the board, it was all over for the hosts, India picking up the remaining four wickets with little fuss.
