Arvind Mahankali, who won the Scripps National Spelling Bee this year, has offered winning tips to win the annual competition.
The 13-year-old resident of Bayside Hills, New York, told children aspiring to win the competition to try their best and believe in themselves that they can do it, the New York Daily News reported.
He told them to focus on that particular word and don't think about winning, asserting that they should just focus on reaching the next round.
Assistant principal Richard Schaffer said that his school plans to host an event on Tuesday to honour Arvind, and officials will present a check to the American Cancer Society in his honour.
Arvind is planning to make other schools proud, starting with Stuyvesant in the fall and a college choice between "Harvard and MIT" looms after that, he said.
He is determined to earn Ph.D.s in math and physics, and wants to become a professor or a research scientist and to emerge victorious in the national and international math and physics Olympiads.
