The Amateur International Boxing Association-appointed ad-hoc committee for India will seek to get country's star pugilist Mary Kom's wild card entry for the upcoming Olympics Games to be held in the Brazilian seaside city of Rio de Janeiro.

Kom's hopes of securing qualification for the forthcoming Rio Olympics were shattered after she crashed out of the second round of the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan.

Krishen Narsi, the chairman of ad-hoc committee and Boxing Federation of India (BFI) president Kishen Narsi, said that they would write a letter to the AIBA pointing out Kom's contribution to the sport.

"On behalf of Boxing Federation of India (BFI) family, we will try to get Mary Kom's wild card entry for Rio Olympics. We will write to AIBA Leadership considering Mary's wonderful contribution to the sport," Narsi said.

The 33-year-old became the first Indian woman to win a boxing medal when she clinched bronze in the 2012 London Games.
