Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM) is optimistic about growing trade ties between India and Nepal after Prime Minister Modi's visit to the neighbouring country. India is also assertive in rebuilding war torn Afghanistan by boosting trade opportunities.
ASSOCHAM is creating trade and business atmosphere in Nepal by encouraging Indian industries to set up their business in Nepal, investing money and generating job opportunities for the Nepali citizens.
ASSOCHAM has been conducting SAARC summit for years. Nepal will host 18th SAARC Summit in November this year.
"The visit of Prime Minister of India to Nepal and Nepal Prime Minister 's visit to India, have given further boost to the areas which had the potential and were growing . I am sure the development of the infrastructure, the trade prospects, tourism, power generation all these sectors are going to get huge push", said, D S RAWAT (Secretary General, ASSOCHAM)
With the new government in India, efforts are on to strengthen bilateral trade relations between the two neighbours.
"The expectations are very high the aspirations are very high. We feel that that the biggest requirement for both the countries is not trading but building the infrastructure. I am glad that both the Prime Ministers in their respective meetings focused on the infrastructure development. If infrastructure is developed, both the countries will be benefited", said, D S RAWAT (Secretary General, ASSOCHAM)

Rawat added that ASSOCHAM is making sincere efforts to encourage Indian businesses to set up shops in Nepal.
"We are encouraging people to go and set up their business there. The fact of the matter is we had recently held a round table conference there. Number of tie up was explored between the two countries. Now for the bigger conference we had already invited the Foreign Minister of India and Foreign Minister of Nepal is scheduled in the month of October", said, D S RAWAT (Secretary General, ASSOCHAM)
During his recent visit to Nepal, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced $1 billion concessional line of credit for Nepal to use for development, including building hydropower plants.
ASSOCHAM is creating trade and business atmosphere in war-torn Afghanistan by encouraging Indian industries to set up their business units there, investing money and generating job opportunities for the Afghan citizens.
ASSOCHAM has played a pivotal role in promoting business activities between India and Afghanistan and hosted the Afghan President's visit to India.
As there is a huge prospect of mining products particularly iron ore from Afghanistan many Indian companies have shown interest in to exploration of mining products.
"We have been actively working in promoting the businesses between the two countries but that's a very humble beginning I think as a country we need to be doing much more for what we are doing as a nation", said, Secretary General, ASSOCHAM, D. S. RAWAT
Rawat added that Indian firms can tap the potential in war-torn Afghanistan as the country is moving towards rebuilding process after years of conflict.
"The biggest opportunity for India at the moment is in rebuilding Afghanistan. The infrastructure has been totally in shambles. They want the roads to be rebuilt, they want the buildings built . Huge scope for the construction industry, cement, steel etc", said, Secretary General, ASSOCHAM, D. S. RAWAT
ASSOCHAM also hosts business delegations from Afghanistan to encourage bilateral trade between the two countries.
"Very recently we had a very big delegation from Afghanistan. We had several meeting in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and other places. Number of business tie ups have been explored and signed but more importantly what we have done is we have created lot of awareness among the Indian business people that go and export and invest in Afghanistan", said, Secretary General, ASSOCHAM, D.
